Traders announce reduction in prices of pulses

FAISALABAD: The traders of Grain Market on Wednesday announced reduction in the prices of pulses by Rs 2 to 14 on the request of the district administration.

Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali visited Grain Market and met with the traders. The DC welcomed the announcement of reduction in prices of pulses, including gram pulse, mash and masoor, besides some other items, by the traders of the Grain Market keeping in view of coronavirus situation. He appreciated the contribution to the entrepreneurs in every difficult time. On the occasion, the Grain Market president also announced to keep market open on April 9 (today) which was already decided to close due to Shab-e-Barat.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue Mian Aftab Ahmed, Extra Assistant Director Agricultural Marketing Abdul Rahman, President grain market Mian Asif Aslam, Aslam Bhali and other traders were also present. Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali visited various parts of the Grain Market and checked the cleanliness situation and anti-corona measures. He also issued necessary instructions to the Market Committee secretary. Later Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali also checked the implementation on lockdown on different roads.

LOCUSTS-HIT AREAS VISITED: On the direction of University of Agriculture Faisalabad Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Ashraf and Entomology Chairman Dr Mansoor-ul-Hassan, a team led by Entomology Assistant Professor Dr Amir Rasul along with UAF internship students visited the locusts-hit areas of Tehsil 18 Hazari Jhang 10/1, 11/2, 11/3 and Kot Shakir. The team observed first and second instar nymphs of locusts hopping from sand dunes to gram fields. They shared the following recommendation with Agriculture Officers and NDMA incharge for effective control. The team suggested dose of Lambda cyhalothrin 3ml/lit of water as tested earlier in the lab of locusts control lab UAF. They advised to increase a number of spray men for efficient control on vast area at a time.
