Nasir appeals to Tableeghi Jamaat members to observe self-isolation
Sindh’s information and local government minister has appealed to the members of the Tableeghi Jamaat to stop their movement at once and observe self-isolation at their current place of stay as a compulsory precaution to stop local transmission of COVID-19 in the province.
Syed Nasir Hussain Shah issued this appeal on Saturday in the form of a video message in the context of the recent action of the Sindh police.
In collaboration with the local district administration, the police department has transformed 168 Tableeghi Jamaat centres in various towns of Sindh into quarantine facilities to prevent further spread of the novel coronavirus that has been detected in many members of the group.
Through his video message, Shah appealed to the members of the Tableeghi Jamaat to strictly follow the advisory of the provincial health department against local transmission of COVID-19.
He said the Sindh chief minister had asked the respective local administrations of various districts to take special care of the members of the Tableeghi Jamaat quarantined at their centres in different parts of the province.
The information minister said the government had asked the local administrations of those districts to provide the people in quarantine at various Tableeghi Jamaat centres in Sindh with all the necessities of life.
He recalled that all the notable Ulema had also advised the Tableeghi Jamaat members to observe the self-isolation directives of the government at their respective centres.
Shah acknowledged that preaching about Islam is indeed a very pious deed, but the people associated with this mission should take cognisance of the present difficult times causing sufferings to humans the world over.
He said the people associated with the Tableeghi Jamaat should stop travelling at once. He expressed gratitude to Maulana Tariq Jameel and other notable religious scholars for extending cooperation to the government in the observance of the lockdown measures to prevent local transmission of the deadly viral disease.
