PESHAWAR: As many as 7,000 Civil Defence volunteers have been engaged by the respective deputy commissioners for administrative duties like traffic control, lockdown, and quarantine management, etc, said Director Civil Defence KP Fahad Ikram Qazi on Friday.

He said all the volunteers in districts are busy in nonstop door-to-door awareness campaign regarding corona at the union council level across KP. Qazi said that volunteers themselves were collecting donations and helping the poor. They were also mobilising the communities at the grassroots to help out their relatives and neighbours, who are economically affected due to corona preventive measures, he added. He said that the Directorate of Civil Defence made 10,000 litres of sanitisers and distributed it for free among the civil servants, doctors, police, military, media and general public across the province. He said Civil Defense intends to make 10,000 litres more sanitiser for free distribution if the situation persists.
