10,688 motorists fined

FAISALABAD: The city traffic police (CTP) imposed a fine of Rs 3.8m on 10,688 motorists for violating various traffic rules last week. CTO Sardar Asif said here Thursday that the citizens should abide by Section 144 CrPC and avoid pillion riding. He said that the traffic police were implementing the Punjab government transport policy for the safety of citizens from coronavirus. Sardar Asif said that he was personally checking pillion riding on roads and strict action was being taken against the violators. He said that the CTP helpline 1915 was active and the people could seek necessary guidance about traffic.

Four drug pushers held: Jaranwala police on Thursday arrested four drug pushers and recovered narcotics from their possession. The police conducted raids at different areas and arrested accused Amir Raza, Imran, Ali Ahmed and Masood and recovered over 7kg hashish from their possession. Separate cases have been registered against the accused.

160 power pilferers caught in March: In a crackdown against power theft, the intelligence teams of Fesco caught 160 pilferers in all five circles of the region during the month of March.

The teams collected Rs 30 million from pilferers under the head of detection bills and got registered cases against 50 power pilferers. The Fesco task forces checked total 74,631 electric connections across the region and found 128 pilferers stealing electricity through direct supply from PVC line, 20 through tempering with meters, seven shunt system, two by changing phase polarity and three others by giving side to the meters. The department sent bills of 1,675,824 detection units worth Rs 30 million to power pilferers.
