If you’re a medical or dental practitioner and want to renew your registration with the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), you need not to produce lots of documents anymore.
The reason is that the new PMDC Management Committee, which came into being lately after the dissolution of the controversial PMDC executive council through a presidential ordinance, has decided to withdraw the condition of submitting training letters and continuous medical education affidavits for doctors and dentists seeking renewal of registration.
According to committee chairman Major-General (r) Dr Azhar Mehmood Kayani, the move will help ensure speedy processing of the registration renewal applications.
The development comes amid reports that around 1,500 such applications have long been pending action by the PMDC due to red tape.
“I’ve issued directions to the relevant PMDC section to ensure the early processing of pending registration renewal cases. We’ll soon announce new, easier procedures for this and other purposes to ease the anxiety of everyone concerned,” he said.
The committee chairman said the management committee was committed to ensuring the holding of free, fair and transparent elections for the new Council within four months starting on August 28, 2015.
