Police enhance pickets to restrict public movement

Rawalpindi : In a bid to ensure implementation on directives of the government to control coronavirus pandemic, Rawalpindi Police enhanced police picketing system to restrict public inside homes.

Police pickets have been established at major roads and adjoining avenues of Rawalpindi city to restrict public movement in view of rising victims of coronavirus pandemic.

Police officials assigned at pickets have been authorised to take action against pillion riding and movement of public transport in the city and adjoining areas.

Public has also been appealed continuously by police mobile vans to stay inside homes in view of rising alarming situation of coronavirus pandemic in the city and adjoining areas.

Dhoke Kashmirian and Dhok Kala Khan of Rawalpindi have been sealed on report of suspects of coronavirus and in these areas army personnel have also been deployed to restrict public movement with stern action.

Meanwhile, police pickets have been established all over Rawalpindi Division and senior police officials are assigned task to keep visiting the police pickets to view lockdown situation.

SP Pothohar, SP Rawal and SP Sadar circles also visited the police pickets and instructed police personnel at the pickets to restrict unnecessary public movement.

It was stated by Deputy Inspector General of Police (Operations) Waqar Uddin Syed while reviewing the performance of police teams constituted to create awareness among citizens against COVID-19.

Following the directions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Muhammad Aamir Zulfiqar, he said that campaign has been launched in the city by the police for awareness among public as how to protect them against Coronavirus. As per directions of IGP Islamabad, he said that officials of Islamabad police along with their teams are educating about precautionary measures against Coronavirus like effective use of gloves and sanitizers.

DIG (Operations) said that citizens are also appreciating the role of policemen in this critical time while all SPs, SDPOs are ensuring full assistance to teams of district administration in their respective areas.

DIG (Operations) was told that SP (Rural) Malik Naeem Ibqal, SP (City) Sarfaraz Ahmed Virk briefed the people at police pickets, shops of edible items and medical stores about precautionary measures. They also checked the situation in their areas after directions of lockdown and managed spray in offices and police stations in their areas.

Likewise, ASP Kohsar Ms. Aqeela Naqvi, ASPs Rana Abdul Wahab, Hamza Aman Ullah, Rana Hussain also gave safety tips to citizens against COVID-19 and distributed gloves and sanitizers among citizens.

DIG (Operations) Waqar Uddin Syed that each personnel of the force is committed to serve the humanity in this critical moment and their morale is very much high in accomplishing tasks assigned to them.

7 held: Islamabad Koral police station has arrested seven persons for their alleged involvement in attacking a shop with intention to kill its owner and also recovered weapons from them, police said.

According to details, a citizen Bhai Khan s/o Yar Muhammad lodged complaint with Koral police station that around eight or ten persons attacked his shop through firing with intention to kill him. Following this compliant, SP (Rural) Malik Naeem Iqbal assigned the task to SDPO Koral to ensure arrest of assailants.
