Religious leaders flay minister for ‘offensive remarks’
LAHORE:As religious scholars and leaders observed Friday a countrywide repentance day to seek riddance of collective and individual sins, they also flayed federal Minister of Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry for declaring the “corona spread a result of the ignorance of religious sections of society who indulged in prayers and repentance instead of taking scientific prevention methods.”
During the penitential prayers, many noted scholars also prayed Almighty for giving Fawad Chaudhri the guidance and vision to see the right path and refrain from uttering offensive remarks against the religion and scholars. The ulema and religious leaders who criticised and prayed for Fawad Chaudhr’y divine guidance included JI ameer Senator Sirajul Haq, Maslis Ahrar-e-Islam naib ameer Kafeel Bukhari, secretary general Abdul Latif Khalid Cheema, JUP vice president Qari Zawwar Bahadur, Islami Jamhoori Ittehad president and Jamiat Ahle Hadith leader Allama Zubair Ahmad Zaheer and others.
They warned Fawad Chaudhry that his arrogance against the ulema and the act of repentance before Almighty was itself a display of self-conceit and disdainful contempt towards religious symbols. They asked him to offer repentance before Almighty for targeting Islamic beliefs with haughtiness.
