KARACHI: The national badminton champion Palwasha Bashir and the finalist of singles event at national championship Mahnoor Shehzad were honoured by the Sindh Badminton Association (SBA) during a ceremony at Sunset Club in Karachi on Saturday.
Both these players as well as former champion Sara Khan were presented shields for their performances.
Chairman SBA Aftab Iqbal said on the occasion that everyone would have to take steps to bring back the glory of this sport.
He added that the government should help promote the game in schools and colleges.
CEO Omar Associates Nadeem Omar while presenting the cash awards to the players said that more sponsors should come forward to support badminton players.
Palwasha said that her performance was the result of efforts made by her coaches Javed Iqbal and Iftikhar Hussain.
Mahnoor said she felt good being honoured by the federation. “Events like this increase the motivation level of players. There should be more badminton events held in the city,” she said.
