PTI to support parents’ protest over school fee hike

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Karachi organiser, Ali Zaidi, on Friday expressed support for parents’ protesting against a constant increase in the fee of private schools.
“The current hike in school fee is ridiculous, given that most families living in Karachi were struggling to make both ends meet,” Zaidi said.
He said the party would stand in support of the parents until the decision was reconsidered.
While lamenting the private school system, he added that government school system was suffering from further neglect and was in shambles.
“If our government schools were functioning properly and providing quality education, there would be no need for private schools or at least the majority of children would be attending government schools at lower cost to the parents.
It is crucial that the provincial government fix all government schools on a war-footing in terms of physical infrastructure and teacher training to be at par with private counterparts.”
Zaidi also demanded of the Sindh Education Minister Nisar Khuhro to take notice of the troubles parents were facing with respect to the private school fee hike.

All Private Schools Management Association (APSMA) Sindh Chairman Syed Khalid Shah expressed the association’s concerns over private schools charging additional fee from students.
Polical influence was used to secure admissions for children in high ranking schools which he claimed was a matter of concern, he said while addressing a press conference held at the Karachi Press Club.
He also expressed regret over schools not adopting the rules jointly set for educational institutions. “Schools charging fee between Rs3,000 to Rs5,000 fall prey to criticism despite providing conducive educational atmosphere to children.”
The chairman announced the association’s support to the government in taking actions against such schools.
