KARACHI: Raza Sawani and Zaid Noor cruised into the semi-finals of men’s singles of the 3rd Indus Pharma Open National ranking tennis championship on Tuesday at Karachi Club.
Raza faced little resistance from Aqeel Shabbir and was leading the match 6-2, 5-0 when Aqeel retired.
The match between Zaid Noor and Salman Butt was tied 3-3 before Salman retired from the match.
In under-18 quarter-final, Ibrahim Iltifat recovered from a set down to beat Nazif Ahmed 3-6, 6-1, 3-0.
In another last-eight match of the event, Marib Malik defeated Sameer Meer by 6-2, 6-0.
Nauman Aftab also advanced into the semi-finals by beating Saad M Ali by 6-2, 2-6, 6-2.
Raza Sawani recorded an immaculate 6-0, 6-0 victory against Shiraz Bhund and made it to the last-four stage.
