LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Monday took a U-turn after agreeing to work out a seat adjustment deal with the opposition parties for the upcoming local government elections in Punjab.
Top leadership of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT), Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakista, Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) and the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) held a meeting at the residence of PPP Punjab President Manzoor Wattoo on Sunday and decided to join hands against the ruling PML-N ahead of the local government polls scheduled for October 31.
The PTI spokesperson explained that his party has only agreed to struggle together against election rigging and there is no alliance with the PPP. It is pertinent to mention here that most of the PTI supporters on the social media had expressed anger over the party’s decision.
On the other hand, a PPP representative said that it is surprising to see PTI stepping back from its decisions.
