Woman killed by brother-in-law

LAHORE:A woman was killed by her brother-in-law over a domestic dispute in the Sanda police area on Tuesday.

The victim has been identified as Farida. Police, quoting the eyewitnesses, said accused Aurangzeb scuffled with the victim and opened firing. As a result, she died. Police reached the scene and collected evidence. The body was removed to morgue.

Blood camp: A blood camp was organised at Qila Gujjar Singh Police Lines on World Cancer Day on Tuesday. Around 200 police officers and officials donated blood for cancer patients. CCPO Zulfiqar Hameed and DIG Operations Rai Babar Saeed visited the camp. DIG Operations Rai Babar Saeed also donated blood. The CCPO praised the blood donors' sentiments for humanity and said that like other districts across the Punjab, Lahore police also enthusiastically responded to the appeal made by Inspector General of Police, Punjab, Shoaib Dastgir. “Donating blood to public is tradition of police. I salute those cops who voluntarily donated blood to save lives of cancer patients” said the CCPO.

Farewell: CCPO Zulfiqar Hameed chaired a farewell ceremony in honour of SSP Admin Athar Waheed. DIG Operations Rai Babar Saeed, DIG Investigation Dr Inam Waheed, SSP Investigation Zeeshan Asghar and SSP Operations Muhammad Naveed also attended the event.

SSP Athar Waheed has been posted as FIA additional director. On the occasion, the CCPO praised the services of Athar Waheed as SSP Admin and said that he was a hard working and honest officer. His appointment to the FIA is a testament to his ability, the CCPO said.

police stations: A meeting chaired by CCPO Zulfiqar Hameed has decided to expedite the construction of new buildings of 17 police stations in Lahore.

The meeting reviewed various development plans of Lahore police under the Annual Development Programme (ADP). The meeting was informed that work was underway on construction of new buildings of Qila Gujar Singh, Gwalmandi, Iqbal Town, Chung and Lohari Gate police stations.

The CCPO directed that the Bhati Gate, Haer, Mughalpura and CCPO Complex projects be included in the next ADP. After taking briefing on new headquarters project of Dolphin Sauad, Zulfiqar Hameed directed that the scheme near Sagiyan Bridge be completed by June. “We will ensure additional funds if required,” concluded the CCPO.
