Talking to this correspondent, official spokesman, Secretary, RCB, Qaisar Mahmood who is also media manager told that due to desilting work which is carried out annually, water supply from Khanpur would remain suspended in cantonment areas from February 01 to 10. He asked the inhabitants to store water and not to waste it to cover up the entire period of 10 days.

However, water from tube-wells would be supplied. The supply demand from Khanpur would remain suspended due to desilting work. Similarly, on complaints, Rawalpindi Cantonment Board would arrange water bowsers to overcome water shortage to be created with the stoppage of water supply for ten days.

Qaisar Mahmood also asked the inhabitants to extend cooperation with RCB during these days of desilting work. Otherwise, the situation of water in cantonment wards falling under RCB is satisfactory. “We have enough storage of water in Khanpur Dam and more rains in winter season would further improve the situation of water in sufficient way enabling us to meet the demand,” he added.

The secretary further told that in order to supply clean drinking water, an amount of Rs12 million has been expended for replacement of rusty pipelines.
