Govt supporters creating rift, says Ch Shujaat Hussain

LAHORE:Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q) president and former prime minister Ch Shujaat Hussain has said: “Our party has alliance with the government and we should not be put merely in the category of allies, our party leaders Ch Pervaiz Elahi and Tariq Bashir Cheema talk about reforming the government.”

The PML-Q president said this while talking to Speaker Punjab Assembly Ch Pervaiz Elahi at his residence here on Wednesday. A delegation of Lahore Bar’s newly-elected President GA Tariq and other office-bearers were present on the occasion.

Ch Shujaat Hussain said: “Our sayings should not be taken in the category of opposition, we do not criticise rather give suggestions. The government should benefit from our suggestions and sayings because we as allies try to reform the government.

Some supporters of the government by showing our clips try to create misunderstanding.” Facilitating the bar's newly- elected president and other office-bearer, Ch Pervaiz Elahi said: “It has been our endeavour to provide cheap and quick justice to people on their doorsteps. Lawyers have always worked for supremacy of law.”

Whenever we got the opportunity we not only took measures to provide basic facilities to people from all walks of life but also got those implemented, Pervaiz said. On this occasion, senior jurist Jahangir A Jhoja, Arshad Jahangir Jhoja, Asif Mehmood Cheema and Syed Muhammad Aslam Rizvi were also present.

President GA Tariq introduced Lahore Bar Association delegation, including Senior Vice-President Rana Naeem, Vice-President Karam Nizam, Raan, General Secretary Rehan Khan Mayo, Secretary Sultan Hassan Malik, Joint Secretary Mian Osama, Finance Secretary Ali Imran Bhatti, Library Secretary Raza Mahmood, President Cantt Bar Mian Sakhawat and Vice-President Model Town Bar Nadeem Zia Butt, to the speaker.

He said Ch Pervaiz Elahi as the chief minister got Punjab Bar Council building constructed for the lawyers, provided free treatment medicines in the government hospitals for the lawyers during his tenure lawyers’ community was very happy. This is the reason that your name is mentioned among lawyers’ community with great respect and your services cannot forget your services ever, he said.
