Eight booked for attacking lady lawyer’s house
FAISALABAD: Dijkot police have registered a case against eight persons on the charge of attacking a lady lawyer’s house at Chak 248 Dijkot.
The accused included Ashiq Ali, Muhammad Khalid, Shahid Ali, Muhammad Siddiq and Muhammad Ahmad. Lady lawyer Ayesha Yasin alleged that the accused entered her house, tortured her servant Ali and damaged furniture, besides resorting to aerial firing. According to the lady lawyer, she was pursuing a case against the accused as an advocate and the accused were trying to stop her from doing so.
Kashmir Bridge Underpass: FDA Director General Muhammad Sohail Khawaja has said that the mega project of Kashmir Bridge Underpass on Canal Road will be completed during the current year at a cost of Rs1.28 billion.
He was inspecting the pace of construction work on the Kashmir Bridge Underpass here on Friday. FDA Chief Engineer Shahid Mehmood, Amjad Saeed, NLC Project Manager Syed Saeed Rasool and other officers were present. The FDA DGexpressed satisfaction over the construction progress of Eastern side of the underpass and directed that the road of this side should be constructed expeditiously so that one side of underpass could be opened for traffic by the end of this month. He said that all-out measures should be taken for uninterrupted flow of traffic at alternative routes to facilitate the citizens. He said that citizens difficulties were being realised and regular monitoring of the construction process was being carried out to complete this project as early possible. He informed that the remaining funds would also be received from Punjab government soon. Chief Engineer Shahid Mehmood briefed about the progress of the project and said compaction was being done to complete the road of Eastern side of the underpass for making ready this side to open for traffic immediately.
CRACKDOWN ON DRUG PUSHERS LAUNCHED: On the directions of CPO Muhammad Sohail Ch, the district police have launched a crackdown on drug pushers and gamblers here.
The special raiding parties of the police have been made to conduct raids at gambling dens, dealers of narcotics and other suspects. During the last midnight operation, the Factory Area police nabbed three drug pushers belonging to Chiniot and recovered 6kg heroin and Rs 150,000 cash from their possession. Similarly, drug pusher Javed Iqbal was arrested from Risale-Wala Road while carrying 3kg and 460 grams heroin. Another drug pusher Qasim Ali was held at police picket point on Rehmania Road. The police also recovered 45kg charas from a car on Chak Jhumra Road. The police also arrested Ibrar Ahmad who admitted that he was bringing charas in his car to deliver to a local narcotics dealer in Faisalabad.
