A prisoner died under mysterious circumstances in the Kot Lakhpat Jail on Tuesday. Police removed the body to morgue for autopsy. Police said the condition of Tariq, son of Alamgir, deteriorated a few days back. He was shifted to a nearby hospital where he could not survive.
FOUR GAMBLERS ARRESTED: Lohari Gate police claimed to have arrested four gamblers and recovered stake money from their custody. The accused were identified as Muhammad Tasawur, Naveed, Saleem and Shafiq. They are history-sheeters. Police recovered 8,030 rupees in cash, 8 cellphones and equipment used in the gambling. Police registered a case. City SP Haroon Joiya appreciated the SHO on his good performance.
SUSPENDED: Chief Traffic Officer Tayyab Cheema suspended five traffic wardens and issued show-cause notices to three others for not taking proper action against squatters and wrong parking. He paid surprise visits to Township, Kahna, Mozang and Model Town and reviewed performance of wardens. The suspended wardens include Asif, Faizan, Zartab, Adil and Tahir. Show-cause notices were issued to Ishtiaq, Nadeem and Farhan. Meanwhile, a crackdown on wheelie doers continued. Police claimed to have arrested 1,037 people during the crackdown. He directed SPs, DSPs and sections in charges to monitor the campaign.
