PESHAWAR: The family of a young Sikh, who was killed in Peshawar a couple of days back, complained that not a single representative of the federal or provincial government either visited them or bothered to call them to condole the death.

“No one from the government bothered to visit our family or at least make a call to condole the death of our brother,” said Harmeet Singh, a brother of the deceased Parvinder Singh. He added that the Sikh and other minorities were part of this society but some time they felt left-out.

No significant progress could be made in the case so far. However, some sources said progress has been made in the murder investigations.

Police officials were also tight-lipped about the progress of the investigation as it could affect the probe. “Media and social media highlighted the murder of my brother at the international level. But the government in the centre and province are not moved.

Even no junior official from the district administration has contacted me or my family so far,” said Harmeet. He complained that the rulers were indifferent to the sufferings of the common people. “But I will not remain silent and raise the issue at every forum till my family gets justice,” he vowed.

Parvinder Singh was working in Malaysia and had come for his wedding scheduled in February, relatives said. Belonging to Chakesar town in Shangla, Parvinder Singh was in Peshawar for his wedding shopping where his bullet-riddled body was found in Chamkani late Saturday night.
