Each district to have university, says CM

LAHORE:Chief Minister Usman Buzdar on Sunday pledged to set up a university in every district of Punjab.

We will set up a university in each district of Punjab and varsity of global standards in every division, the chief minister said in a Twitter statement.

The incumbent government after assuming office worked on bringing reforms to the existing universities, he said, adding that a total of 16 vice-chancellors and top management of various universities were appointed on merit, new courses designed and the exam system improved.

Usman Buzdar said work on eight universities had already begun this year and their basic necessities had been met.

Among them are Kohsar University, Murree; Rawalpindi University; North Punjab University, Chakwal; Thal University, Bhakkar; Mianwali Baba Guru Nanak University; South Punjab University, Layyah; and IT University, Rawalpindi; he added.

shelter homes: Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has directed the district administration to set up temporary shelter homes for the people who sleep on the roads. The chief minister directed the district administration to immediately set up artificial shelter homes for protecting such people from extreme cold weather.

Temporary shelter homes will be set up in those districts where there are no permanent shelter homes. He said that protecting such people from extreme weather was the responsibility of the state. He said that the report should be sent to Chief Minister’s office after setting up artificial shelter homes.

people’s lot: Usman Buzdar has said that the government is taking practical measures for improving the living standards of the people of the province.

Reforms are being introduced in the public departments and institutions according to the modern demands and our initiatives will yield far-reaching and positive results, the chief minister added.

Usman Buzdar said that Punjab is being changed and will emerge as an exemplary province in this journey of change.

The former culture of spending national exchequer for personal use has been eliminated. He said that former rulers had spent national resources for their personal showoff and projection. The public offices are now adopting the culture of austerity. Under this campaign, expenses of the CM Office have been reduced by 60 percent. He said that the PTI government had laid the foundation of corruption-free and justice for all society in the province.

He said that mega corruption scandal surfaced during the previous regimes. It is the pride of the PTI government that not a single scandal of corruption is on its credit neither it will be. Menace of corruption will be curbed from Pakistan under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Balochistan: A delegation led by Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan called on Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar here Sunday. Matters regarding mutual interest, extending cooperation between Punjab and Balochistan in different sectors as well as measures taken for promoting inter-provincial harmony came under discussion during the meeting.

Usman Buzdar talked with the delegation in Balochi language. Both the chief ministers reiterated to serve the people with new zeal and zest in the New Year. They agreed to counter all the problems and remove all the hurdles blocking the path of public service. Those who are hatching conspiracies failed in the past and will meet the failure in future as well.

Usman Buzdar while talking on this occasion said that those elements who were criticising were actually afraid of progress of Pakistan and prosperity of its people. Both the provinces will move ahead jointly in the journey of progress and prosperity of new Pakistan. The Punjab government will extend the all-out cooperation in the development of Balochistan and prosperity of Balochi people.

Usman Buzdar said that I cherish the progress and prosperity of Balochi people in the same manner that I have cherished the progress and development of people of Punjab. He said the development of Pakistan was linked with the development of Balochistan. He maintained the special quota has been fixed for the Balochi students in the education institutions of Punjab besides providing stipends to them for higher education. He disclosed that the Punjab government would construct a cardiac hospital in Quetta at a cost of Rs2 billion and the hospital would be a gift from the Punjab government for the Balochi people. He said that Communication links between Punjab and Balochistan would be improved. He said that Punjab would do whatever it could for serving the Balochi brethren. He said that restoration works of Mir Chakar-e-Azam Rind shrine in Okara was being speedily carried out and funds had been released on priority basis for this purpose.

He said that our joys and grief are common. He said Balochistan was neglected in the past but the PTI government was determined for the progress and prosperity of Balochistan. We are working jointly for the development of new Pakistan and will keep doing so in future as well. The common man will enjoy the same facilities in Pakistan which were earlier available only to the elite class of the country. Work has been started on the project of constructing dams for storing the water in the tribal areas of Rajanpur and Dera Ghazi Khan. He said that role of Balochistan was of great importance in new Pakistan. Both the chief ministers while condemning the barbarism of Indian armed forces and Modi’s law of citizenship expressed complete solidarity with Kashmiri people.

Usman Buzdar rejected the illegal, unconstitutional and undemocratic tactics of Modi government. He said Kashmir and Pakistan are conjoint twins and no one can isolate Kashmir from Pakistan. He said that Fascist Modi had dug the pit himself by bringing controversial law of citizenship. Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan said that Kashmiris were not alone in their struggle. Pakistanis are standing beside them. He said that people of Punjab and Balochistan were linked with chain of love. Pakistan is our country. We will continue to play positive role in promoting harmony and unity among the provinces.

Senator Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar, Balochistan Home Minister Mir Zia Lango, Education Minister Muhammad Bakhsh Lehri, Revenue Minister Saleem Khosa and others were included in the delegation. Provincial Minister Fayyaz-ul-Hassan Chohan was also present.
