Minister reviews price control

LAHORE:Provincial Industries and Trade Minister Mian Aslam Iqbal on Monday presided over taskforce for price control meeting at CM’s Office in which monitoring of prices of essential edibles and implementation of price control mechanism came under review.

Provincial Minister for Food Samiullah Ch, Secretary Industries & Trade, Secretaries of departments concerned and other high officials participated in the meeting while Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners across the province also participated via video link.

Those districts which showed exemplary performance with regard to bringing stability in the prices of essential items were highly commended. Aslam Iqbal while taking strict notice of inflated prices of essential items at some places directed to improve prevailing conditions and prices should also be brought down. Strict action will be taken against hoarders, profiteers and adulterating mafia, he warned. Complaints of officials present in the markets other than price control magistrates are also coming to surface and this practice should be immediately stopped.

No official except price control magistrates should visit markets in order to monitor prices. He said that prices of essential items were still high in backward areas and administration should pay its due attention to solve this problem.
