LAHORE:Defunct Anjuman Talba Islam (ATI) Pakistan has demanded the government restore student unions in educational institutions by December 25, otherwise, a march will be organised in the provincial metropolis on Dec 30.
Addressing a press conference at Lahore Press Club on Tuesday, defunct ATI President Mozam Shahzad Sahi, Vice-President Ghufran Sarwar, Secretary Information Amir Ismail and others welcomed the statement by Prime Minister Imran Khan about the restoration of student unions. They said it should now be turned into reality.
They, however, were critical of the recent Students Solidarity March, alleging some foreign agenda was being promoted by some so-called stakeholders in the name of demand for restoration of student unions. They said the government should monitor such activities and added the entire nation was standing behind the Pakistan Army.
