Previous rulers exploited farmers: CM Usman Buzdar

LAHORE:Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has said the PTI government has protected farmers’ rights by increasing the support prices of sugarcane and wheat crops.

In a statement, the chief minister said the government fixed per maund price of wheat and sugarcane at Rs1,365 and Rs190, respectively. The previous government exploited the farmers by not increasing the support prices of these two major crops, he added. The PTI government is farmer-friendly and support prices are enhanced after many years. This would grant full reward to farmers of their hard work. Punjab will be prosperous when its farmers will be rich, he added. The government will protect farmers’ rights and no one will be allowed to exploit them. Farmers are my brothers and protection of their rights is my responsibility. Every possible step will be taken for the protection of farmers’ rights in future as well, concluded the chief minister.

CS: Newly-posted Chief Secretary Maj (r) Azam Suleman called on Chief Minister Usman Buzdar at his office here Friday and discussed various matters relating to administrative issues, good governance and steps relating to promotion of transparency in the province.

Talking on this occasion, the chief minister said the government had adopted the policy of promoting a corruption-free culture and promotion of transparency in society, adding that timely completion of public welfare projects was a priority agenda of the Punjab government. Promotion of merit-based culture and public service are our agenda, he added. I would wholly support the administration and it should impartially perform its duties, added Usman Buzdar. He felicitated Azam Suleman on his posting and expressed good wishes.

IGP: IG Police Shoaib Dastgir called on the chief minister at his office and discussed matters pertaining to protection of life and property of the people and general law and order in the province.

Talking on this occasion, the chief minister said that protection of life and property of the people was the prime duty of the police and it would have to perform duties with renewed vigour to improve the law and order. The police has to efficiently work to redress the general public, he added. The police have rendered invaluable services in the war against terrorism and it will have to come up to the people’s expectations to maintain peace. Meanwhile, required resources will be provided to the police for eradication of crime and maintenance of peace, the chief minister assured.

The chief minister ordered early arrest of the criminals adding that strict legal action would be initiated against them. He also extended sympathies to the bereaved heirs. Meanwhile, police have arrested three accused on chief minister’s notice. Meanwhile, Usman Buzdar has also taken notice of blast in a rickshaw near Chauburji. He sought a report from CCPO Lahore and directed him to investigate it adding that further action should be initiated by identifying the responsible persons at the earliest. He also directed the administration to provide best healthcare facilities to the injured.

Usman Buzdar has taken the strict notice of a social media video about Kashana and sought a report from provincial social welfare secretary.

The chief minister ordered complete inquiry of this incident to bring out facts by completely investigating the allegations. Whosoever found guilty in the investigation will be taken to task, he said. The girls residing in Kashana will be given complete protection and I will never tolerate improper conduct with hapless girls, concluded the chief minister.
