Peshawar cop injured in attack

PESHAWAR: A cop was shot and injured in the limits of the Matani Police Station on Sunday. An official said that two rival groups had taken positions against each other in Gulzar Chowk in Matani after they clashed at a jirga. The official said heavy police contingents rushed to the spot to stop exchange of fire between the two groups. The official said the armed men from Shah Faisal group opened fire on police, injuring Constable Naseer. The injured constable was taken to the hospital for treatment. The official said five accused have been arrested in raids conducted in the area.
