KARACHI: Headed by chief secretary Sindh the anti-corruption committee-one (ACC 1) of the Sindh anti-corruption and enquiries department will meet today (August 19) to discuss 130 cases of corruption by officers of grade-17 and above belonging to Sindh local government, health and education departments.
69 of these cases relate to the officers of local government department, 14 to health department and 36 to the education department. Cases involving one district naib nazim, four taluka and union council nazims, some Town Municipal Officers (TMOs), one District Health Officer (DHO), one medical superintendent of a big hospital and some district education officers will also be discussed.
One of the health department officers constituted a recruitment committee headed by him and comprising his subordinates and appointed 304 persons on different positions. According to rules of the Sindh government any recruitment at district level could be done only through a recruitment committee headed by a deputy commissioner of the said district and the district officer of the concerned department could be a member of the committee.
