NANKANA SAHIB: The Independence Day was celebrated with national enthusiasm and zeal across the district on Friday.
The day dawned with special prayers in mosques for the welfare and prosperity of the country.
The biggest flag hoisting ceremony was held at Gymnasium Hall, Nankana and the ceremony was attended by DCO Dr Usman Ali, DPO Shahzada Sultan, MNA Dr Shezra, MPAS and other dignitaries.
Addressing the ceremony, the MNA said a united nation can defeat all conspiracies being hatched against the country.
She also paid rich tributes to martyrs of operation Zarb-e-Azab and army public school Peshawar.
DPO Shahzada Sultan stressed the need of acting upon teachings of our founding fathers.
Sikh children sang national songs and special children presented a tableau whereas students of different institutes sang national anthem.
Prizes were also given to position holders.
National flags were also hoisted at different ceremonies were held across the district
Earlier, Pakistan Sikh Gurdawar Parbandhak committee held a ceremony at gurdawara Janamsthan Nankana and prayed for the progress and prosperity of the country.
