NOWSHERA: Khyber Pakhtun-khwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak on Thursday said that the resignations of the lawmakers of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) from the assemblies and Senate a tactic to pressurise the federal government.
Speaking at a public meeting here, he said that all the political parties, including MQM, had given a mandate to the law enforcers to launch a full-scale action against the terrorists and anti-social elements in the country. He said that the MQM was now making hue and cry when the security forces were taking action against the terrorists, anti-social elements and armed wings of the political parties in the port city.
The chief minister asked the federal government not to bow to the MQM pressure and continue the Karachi operation till elimination of all evils in the country’s economic hub.
“It has become a practice that when a government takes action against the corrupt and hold accountable the plunders of public money and members of armed wings of political parties, they start propaganda of being politically victimized,” he said, adding, “Everyone should first go for soul searching before pointing fingers at others.”
Rejecting the allegations of victimisation of political rivals, Pervez Khattak said that there was no fact in the allegations levelled by the ANP leaders against the police.
He said that the provincial government didn’t believe in the political victimisations of political opponents. “Such statements are meant to win sympathies of the people and raise political status,” he added.
He said that the police had submitted the supplementary challan in the case in the court and the detailed challan would be submitted after complete investigation into the case.
Pervez Khattak said the development of industrial sector and agriculture could address the problem of unemployment and the government is focusing on development of the two sectors,” he added.
He said measures, including privatisation of the industrial sector and providing surplus gas and power to industries in the province, were being taken.
The chief minister said that the PTI would form own governments in 12 districts of the province and form coalition governments in other seven districts with the support of its coalition partners. On the occasion, four councillors-elect announced joining the PTI.
