SUKKUR: The Independence Day was celebrated here in Sukkur, Khairpur, Ghotki, Shikarpur, Larkana and other cities of interior Sindh with great enthusiasm.
Commissioner Sukkur, commissioner Larkana, commissioner Mirpurkhas and deputy commissioners of respective districts along with SSPs and dignitaries held flag hoisting ceremonies. Youth took out motorcycle rallies along with the national flags. Official and private buildings were decorated with flags, buntings and lights.
Tableaus were arranged by schoolchildren in which they paid rich tributes to the heros of independence and there were speech and quiz competitions also. Police and Rangers Jawans also took out motorcycle rallies while scouts and gymnasts displayed their arts. Officials distributed sweets among the patients in hospitals as well as among the prisoners in jail. Meanwhile, the minorities also celebrated the 14th August with fanfare.
