Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain has asked his followers to take part in an online poll on weather he should step down or not.
“Should I withdraw from the movement to save the party and my people?” Hussain posted this question on the party’s official website.
Along with the question, the "Haq Parast Awam" have been presented with the three options: Haan (yes); Hargiz nahin (not at all); and Maloom nahin (don’t know).
The MQM chief has asked the question following his address in the United States which has sprung up a new controversy.
“Some officials of the armed forces and the government have decided that Altaf Hussain’s speech or statement should not be aired on any electronic media after I revealed some historical facts in my speech in the annual convention of the party in USA,” stated Hussain on the website. “They have also warned that the MQM could face a ban and offered the party that if Altaf Hussain steps down from the leadership, they would stop the persisting operation against the Mohajirs,” he said.
Hussain has been asking his supporters to let him resign over Raibta Committee’s poor performance, but the followers always plead with him not to resign from the leadership.
In his Houston’s speech, he sought help from Nato and the UN to rescue the Mohajirs from genocide, accusing the establishment of alienating the community.
