MANSEHRA: The people of Battagram have formed a committee to take up the issue of prolonged and unscheduled loadshedding in the district with chief minister and federal minister for water and power.
The committee was constituted in a jirga held with Deputy Commissioner Zarif Almani in the chair and attended by the local elders, politicians and lawmakers.
Speaking on the occasion, former MNA Muhammad Nawaz Khan said that duration of current prolonged and unscheduled loadshedding had risen to almost 18 hours a day, bringing the life in the district to a standstill.
He said that people in the district and representatives of all political parties had decided to launch an agitation for their rights if the current spate of prolonged loadshedding continued.
He added that though the district had been producing 500MW electricity from the Allai Khawar hydropower project, it was facing such huge loadshedding.
Speaking on the occasion, former minister Alamzeb Khan said that federal government should give due share of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa so that ongoing electricity mess in province and their district could be ended.
