KARACHI: Asim Khan got sixth position, Israr Ahmed seventh, and Tayyab Aslam grabbed eighth position in the WSF World Junior Individual Championships at the 15-court Squashtime Centre in Eindhoven, Netherlands, on Thursday.
Israr defeated second seed Tayyab (retired) in the play-offs for fifth to eighth positions on the last day of this world championship.
Asim was overpowered by Patrick Rooney of England 4-11, 16-14, 11-3, 10-12, 6-11.
Meanwhile, Solayman Nowrozi of Australia beat Ahsan Ayaz 12-10, 4-11, 11-5, 11-9 in the final of plate category. Abbas Shoukat lost to Adithyia Raghavan of India 11-3, 8-11, 7-11, 9-11 in the quarter-finals of special plate category.
The quarter-final match between Saadeldin Abouaish of Egypt against second seed Tayyab Aslam was declared match of the tournament.
The 17-year-old Egyptian, ranked 351st, humiliated second seed and World No 84 Tayyab with the score of 6-11, 11-8, 11-5, 15-13 in 74 minutes.
