AFI pays glowing tributes to veteran leader of Pakistan Movement

Rawalpindi: Glowing tributes were paid to late Mehmood Ali former Federal Minister of social welfare, veteran leader of Pakistan Movement and hero of in referendum of Selhet by the prominent scholars and social figures in a seminar arranged by Anjuman Faizul Islam Rawalpindi to commemorate his 100th birthday.

His daughter, Seema Mehmood attended the function as the chief guest. Mian Siddique Akbar, the President of the Anjuman in his welcome address said that Muhammad Ali belonged to classical standard of the noble and committed leaders of South Asian sub-continent who made tremendous sacrifices while playing a leading role in Pakistan Movement.

The speakers who participated in the seminar included Prof Dr. Riaz Ahmed , Raja Mujahid Afser, Dr. Ghazanfar Mehdi, Ahmed Hussain, Rana Tariq Ahmed and Dr. Jamal Nasir. They highlighted some of the commendable aspects of the life and achievements of Mehmood Ali.

Dr. Riaz Ahmed said that Mehmood Ali did not recognise Bangladesh and instead continued to put forth his idea of one nation two countries to pave the way for the reunion of East and West Pakistan as a confederation. Raja Mujahid Afsar said that Mehmood Ali rendered commendable services to the people of lower segment of society as the Federal Minister of Social Welfare.
