Rights violation in Held Kashmir slammed
Islamabad: Civil society activists, political leaders, academia, rights activists, journalists and people from other walks of life jointly passed a resolution demanding an immediate halt to the violation of human rights in the Indian Held Kashmir.
The resolution was tabled in a meeting called by a civil society organisation, Bardasht, which advocates peace and tolerance. The event was meant to mainstream civil society voices against the Indian brutality in the held Jammu and Kashmir.
Noted among speakers were Bardasht founder Nilofar Bakhtiar, AJK President Sardar Masood Khan, Aurat Foundation's Naeem Mirza, human rights advocates Tahira Abdullah and Dr Farzana Bari, National Commission of Human Rights representative Prof Farkhanda Aurangzeb, Roots Millenium Education head Chaudhry Faisal Mushtaq, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry's Ahmed Hassan Mughal, Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry's Shahid Saleem Malik, Senator Farhatullah Babar, Kashmir leader Yasin Malik's wife Mishal Malik, journalist PJ Mir, Brig (r) Abdul Hadi of the Pakistan Red Crescent Society and Brig (r) Rizwanul Asghar of the Al-Shifa Trust Eye Hospital, Rawalpindi.
The meeting adopted a resolution demanding an immediate end to human rights violations in the occupied Jammu and Kashmir by Indian forces and government.
