Kidnapped man recovered, 2 held in Badaber

MARDAN: A man was shot dead and three passers-by injured in the limits of City Police Station on Saturday, police said.
Khan Habib, a resident of Haji Koroona Baghdada, told the police that he along with his brothers Hazrat Habib and Sajjad Habib were present at a hujra last night when his cousins Amir Habib, Adnan Habib, Fawad Habib and Fazal Habib reached there and allegedly started firing over a property dispute.
As a result, Sajjad Habib died while three passers-by identified as Akbar Ali, Samiullah and Imdadullah were injured.
The injured were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital where their condition was stated to be stable.
The police registered a case against the accused.
Body found in Hangu: A man was found dead in Togh Serai area in the limits of Saddar Police Station on Saturday, official sources said.
They said police reached Togh Serai and recovered a body of a man. The body was shifted to the hospital where the victim was identified as Usman Zarin.
The motive behind the killing was stated to be an old enmity.
The body was handed over to the family members for burial.
Three killed in Jamrud accident: Three people were killed in a road accident in Jamrud tehsil of Khyber Agency.
It was learnt that two brothers Gul Badin and Luqman Khan and a third passenger, all said to be Afghan nationals, were killed when the vehicle they were travelling in turned turtle on the Pak-Afghan Highway. The cause of the accident is said to be failure of brakes.
The Khassadar force personnel reached the spot. They handed over the bodies of the victims to heirs who shifted them to Afghanistan.
Kidnapped man recovered, 2 held in Badaber: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and police during a joint action recovered an abducted person and arrested two kidnapers in Urmar area Badber town in the suburb of the provincial metropolis.
A press release issued here Saturday stated that acting on a tip-off, the CTD officials and police raided a building in Badber area and recovered Lal Muhammad from the basement, who had been kidnapped from Urmar area a few days ago.
The CTD and police also arrested two kidnappers Rambail and Farid Khan. The accused were shifted to an unknown location for interrogation, the release stated.
The kidnappers had picked up Lal Muhammad from Urmar area on June 17 last and were demanding Rs4 million ransom for his release.
Security plan devised for Bajaur Agency: The political administration devised a comprehensive security plan for Eidul Fitr to avoid any untoward situation in Bajaur Agency on Saturday.
Talking to reporters, Political Agent Muhammad Yahya Akhunzada said that festive firing and motorcycle riding would be banned while security would be on alert on Eid day.
“A stern action will be taken against the violators,” he added.
He said that strict checking would be carried out at exit and entrance points in bazaars and important installations.
Transporters threaten protest in Nowshera: The transporters Saturday asked the government to take notice of the alleged excesses of the Anti-Corruption Department and quash cases against the drivers or else they would launch a protest campaign.
Speaking at a press conference, senior deputy president of the All Pakistan Goods Transport Association, Zakir Hayat Khan and office-bearers of the local transporters associations said that officials of the Anti-Corruption Department has taken into custody four trucks loaded with 128 tonnes of wheat on June 8 last.
They said that the trucks had been hired to transport wheat to a depot in Azakhel in Nowshera from Chhota Lahore in Swabi when the official of the Anti-Corruption Department seized the vehicles.
