Newly-appointed Principal of Post Graduate Medical Institute and Lahore General Hospital Prof Khalid Mahmood has said a solid and comprehensive strategy aimed at providing high quality medical services to patients has been set and very positive changes would be visible soon after the phased implementation of new policy.
According to a press release issued here on Sunday, the principal in a press statement said that in accordance with the health vision of Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif all possible resources would be utilised for upgrading the medical facilities, promotion of medical education and elimination of dengue, polio and other diseases so as to provide effective healthcare to citizens. He said monitoring system would be made more and efficient and effective in order to ensure the presence of doctors, nurses and paramedics during their duty time. Moreover, the tasks of construction of internal roads and installation of ATMs in the hospital would also be accomplished on priority basis. Prof Khalid Mahmood expressed these views while talking to the media. He said a patient is the most important person for himself and other administrative doctors and we all are available 24 hours for treatment, medical care and to redress problems faced by patients and their attendants under an “Open Door Policy”. He said that every employee who believes in serving the ailing humanity selflessly is the important member of his team.
Prof Khalid Mahmood announced uploading the names of the doctors doing research in various medical departments of PGMI on the website of the institution. He also said that PGMI holds great importance to medical research and the annual funds worth Rs 1 crore earmarked for research are being raised up now. He said the role of committees constituted for financial assistance to intelligent but poor students of Ameer ud Din Medical College would be further activated now. He resolved to uphold the mission of his seniors who worked very hard for the expansion and development of LGH and PGMI in past.
