Agri Dept employee arrested for embezzlement
PESHAWAR: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday arrested an employee of the Agriculture Department for his alleged involvement in the embezzlement of Rs44.4 million. As per official communiqué, the accused Manzar Khan, an employee of Agriculture Department in the connivance with other co-accused lured the general public into booking tractors under Prime Minister’s Tractor Scheme for a price of Rs251,000 instead of Rs310,000, collecting a huge amount of Rs44.4 million from farmers.
It said after executing the agreement, the accused disappeared without providing the tractors or returning the money. The case was filed in the accountability court after completion of a thorough investigation. The accused had been declared a proclaimed offender by the accountability court. It said that the accused would be produced before the accountability court for obtaining physical remand today.
