KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday granted transitory cum protective bail to former federal finance minister and Pakistan Muslim League (N) leader Miftah Ismail in LNG terminal inquiry by the National Accountability Bureau.
The former federal finance minister had approached the SHC for obtaining transitory cum protective bail to appear before NAB's inquiry into tendering of the LNG terminal to a private company. The defence counsel submitted that PML (N) leader wanted to appear for the call up notice but apprehends arrest by NAB. He submitted that the petitioner, who was the federal finance minister and advisor to Prime Minster, has replied to the NAB's questioner and has nothing to do with any offence or violating any rules and procedure.
The court without touching the merits of the case granted transitory cum protective bail to PML (N) leader for 10 days. The NAB has launched an investigation against former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi along with other officials of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources for alleged misuse of power with respect to LNG terminal project.
