Boy dies, five others injured in pile-up
LAHORE: A 15-year-old boy died while five others were injured when a loader-rickshaw and three vehicles collided with each other near Chandni Chowk, Township, on Monday.
The injured were shifted to hospital for treatment. The deceased was identified as Haseeb. Rescuers said the loader-rickshaw had lost control and crashed into other vehicles.
As a result, six persons received multiple injuries. Rescuers reached the spot after being informed and started a rescue operation. The injured boy succumbed to injuries on the way to hospital.
Body found: The body of a 30-year-old man was found floating in the canal near Dharampura on Monday. Police have removed the body to morgue for autopsy. Rescue 1122 responded to an emergency call and fished out the body. Police have also collected forensic evidence from the scene and are trying to identify the victim.
The victim didn't bear any torture marks on his body. Police have started investigations to ascertain the cause of the death.
Burns: At least three persons received burn injuries when a gas cylinder exploded at a home in F Block of the PIA Society on Monday. Rescue 1122 reached the scene, controlled the fire and shifted the victims to hospital. Windowpanes of the house were also shattered due to the explosion. The gas cylinder had exploded in the kitchen of house No. 123 due to gas leakage.
crackdown: Sadr Division police arrested 212 accused in a crackdown on Monday.
It recovered 19 pistols, three rifles, 167 bullets, more than 12kg charas and 171 liter liquor. Sadar Division SP Syed Ali had directed DSPs and SHOs to take strict action against gangs. Accordingly, police busted gangs and arrested its five members along with recoveries worth Rs700,000 from them.
Moreover 106 proclaimed offenders of A&B categories in cases of theft, cheque dishonor, fraud and other crimes were arrested along with 10 court offenders. Police also arrested 27 accused for violating Kite Flying, One Wheeling and Rental Acts.
Road accidents: The Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) responded to 997 road accidents in all 36 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. In the accidents 12 people died, whereas 1175 were injured. Out of the injured, 718 were seriously injured requiring shifting to different hospitals. Whereas, 457 minor injured victims were treated at the incident site by rescue medical teams, thus reducing the burden on hospitals.
