ISLAMABAD: The Opposition Leader in the National Assembly, Shahbaz Sharif, on behalf of the combined opposition on Wednesday formally rejected an invitation from the Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi extended to parliamentary leaders to attend a briefing on national security and National Action Plan (NAP) on 28th of this month.
In a letter addressed to the foreign minister, the opposition leader, while rejecting the invitation, suggested him to give briefing on national security and NAP to all the lawmakers in Parliament.
Shahbaz Sharif further said the National Action Plan was result of efforts of the PML-N government, and it was aimed at uniting the political forces to fight against terrorism.
The letter from the opposition leader further states the combined opposition believes in joint decision-making and such instead inviting only the parliamentary leader, the whole House should be given a briefing. “The joint sense of the House will be more beneficial to address an issue,” he said.
The PPP Chairman, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, while addressing a press conference on Wednesday, said that in presence of three ministers in the federal cabinet having links with banned organisation, the opposition parties could not take government’s efforts to implement the National Action Plan.
