Rawalpindi: The Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) leadership has called upon Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to order immediate arrest of murderers of slain JI leader Muhammad Tahir Khan who was shot dead here about nine months back.
In a statement, JI Rawalpindi District Ameer Shamsur Rehman regretted that despite passage of nine months, police have not arrested murderers of Tahir Khan. “From a low-ranking police officer to senior officials of the Rawalpindi Police, everybody knows as to who is the killer but so far no one has been arrested,” he said.
Shamsur Rehman said that the attitude of Rawalpindi Police also negates claims of the incumbent provincial and federal government of speedy justice to the masses.
The JI leader threatened that the Jamaat-e-Islami leadership would give a protest call if culprits involved in the assassination of Tahir Khan who was also a leader of Shabab-e-Milli, were not nabbed and taken to task.
