3 robbers involved in murder of traffic cop arrested
PESHAWAR: The Capital City police authorities on Tuesday arrested three accused involved in the murder of a traffic police warden in Bhanamari a couple of weeks ago.
A traffic police sergeant, Ajmeer Shah, was martyred when he intercepted motorcyclists in Bhanamari early this month.
Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Qazi Jamilur Rehman told reporters at Malik Saad Shaheed Police Lines that the arrested men were trying to escape after robbing Rs2.5 million when intercepted by Ajmeer Shah, a traffic police sergeant.
“One of the robbers opened fire on Ajmeer Shah when he tried to stop the fleeing criminals,” he said, adding, the cop embraced martyrdom on the spot.
“All the three criminals Khairullah, Mohammad Zubair and Abdul Khaliq have been arrested and at least Rs 1.8 million looted money have been recovered from them,” said Qazi Jamil.
He said that the held criminals had confessed to a number of robberies and snatching incidents.
The CCPO also announced rewards and appreciation certificates for the investigators and other policemen who helped trace the case.
