‘Scrutiny of temporary teachers to be completed soon’
Islamabad: The Federal Directorate of Education has promised the completion of the scrutiny of the records of daily-wage teachers of Islamabad's government schools and colleges by February 28.
FDE director-general Dr Ali Ahmad Kharal told these temps during a function that federal education minister Shafqat Mehmood and adviser of the prime minister and local MNA Ali Nawaz Awan were taking keen interest in the resolution of their service regularisation issue. He said the directorate was examining the cases of daily-wage teachers, who were employed before November 2014, during scrutiny.
The DG said the FDE would put up the list of teachers for regularisation to the education ministry by February 28. He warned that the principals forwarding false information about temps would face punitive action.
The daily-wage teachers had put off their protest against 'denial' of regularisation last week after the intervention of PM adviser Ali Nawaz Awan, who promised strict yet early compliance with the high court's orders on the matter and said the government would withdraw the appeal against them from the Supreme Court.
Employed by the FDE for around nine years, the daily-wage teachers of the FDE schools and colleges have long been demanding either posting to vacant positions and creation of new posts for the rest, increase in the monthly salary of daily-wage teachers from current Rs14,000 to Rs30,000 in line with their contemporaries in Punjab and that of non-teaching staff members reasonably, or offering of job contract to daily wagers without the condition of selection on open merit.
