KARACHI: The Sindh Revenue Board (SRB) has suspended the sales tax registration of a Customs clearing agent for concealing services rendered on filing of goods declaration and remained non-compliant in filing sales tax statement for almost two years.
According to the suspension notice issued on Monday, the SRB conducted scrutiny of tax profile of Al-Mujjaded & Co and detected that the taxpayer processed 711 goods declarations within the jurisdiction of SRB during the period of July 2011 to May 2014 and provided taxable services as the Customs agent in Sindh. The provincial revenue authority detected that the taxpayers had not paid sales tax on services during July 2011 to May 2014. Similarly, the taxpayer also failed to file mandatory sales tax return for the period.
The taxpayer has been given June 4 for depositing the payment and filing tax returns due for the period.
“In case of unsatisfactory response or failure to take remedial measures above on or before June 6, the case shall be further processed for cancellation of registration with the SRB,” according to the notice.
The provincial revenue authority circulated the notice to the Customs stations and Inland Revenue offices of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) in Sindh for further action.
