Ombudsman takes notice of Pakistanis stranded in Turkish jails
ISLAMABAD: Wafaqi Mohtasib Syed Tahir Shahbaz has taken notice on a complaint regarding stranded Pakistanis in Turkish jails, says the Ombudsman’s Secretariat press release.
Human Rights & Welfare Trust Islamabad has filed a complaint before the Wafaqi Mohtasib requesting to take action on a news that there are sizable number of Pakistanis who are stranded in Turkish Jails. The Ombudsman has asked the Grievance Commissioner for Overseas Pakistanis to take notice of these stranded Pakistanis in Turkish jails. Hafiz Ahsaan Ahmed Khokhar, Grievance Commissioner for Overseas Pakistanis has issued a notice to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs asking them to provide details of steps taken for legal and Counselor’s access to Pakistani prisoners in Turkey including the data of Pakistani prisoners in Turkish jails.
He also asked to provide by 7th March details of steps taken by the Foreign Office and Pakistan Embassy in Ankara for the release of Pakistani prisoners in Turkey
