ANP asks govt to consult Kumrat people on park issue
PESHAWAR: The Awami National Party (ANP) has asked the government to take the local population into confidence before declaring Kumrat as a national park.
Through a statement issued here on Tuesday, Awami National Partyprovincial general secretary Sardar Hussain Babak said the government must consult locals about awarding the National Park status to Kumrat.
He added that local dwellers should alsobe provided proper compensation for acquiring the land.
The Awami National Party leader said the announcement of a national park in Upper Dir was a good step but the government should only move forward after the reservations of locals were addressed.
He said being the most beautiful area in the region, Kumrat has the potential of attracting local and international tourists and the government should make proper arrangements for developing the area. Babak said ignoring locals in declaring their area would spoil the opportunity of utilising the area as tourist spot. IMSciences conducts training on Takaful
