Ghalib Conference at KU today
KARACHI: A one-day National Conference on Ghalib is to be organised by the Department of Urdu, University of Karachi on 18 February 2019 (today), which will be followed by a Mushaira chaired by former vice-chancellor KU Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui.
The conference will put the light on the poetry, life and times of the best-ever Urdu poet Mirza Asadullah Khan ‘Ghalib.’ Scholars from Karachi as well as all over the country will attend the event and will present their work on the poet’s works, life and age.
The Department of Urdu, University of Karachi, has a long trail of organsing such literary and scholarly events to educate the new generation and provide them opportunity to engage in dialogues to enhance their skills. The Chairperson of Urdu Department, Tanzeemul Firdoos, is known for holding literary events; earlier, an Indian scholar Nand Kishoor Verma while visiting Karachi, came to deliver lecture at the department on the request of the chairperson.
