KARACHI: The trials for the selection of Karachi’s team for the Pakistan Super Hockey League (PSHL) will be held at the Abdul Sattar Edhi Hockey Stadium here on Tuesday (today).
The trials will be supervised by Karachi Hockey Association (KHA). Players aged under-23 have been directed to appear in the trials.The KHA will shortlist the talented players and forward their names to Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF).
The KHA selection committee comprises Olympian Kamran Ashraf, Jan Muhammad and Latafat Shah. Each team in the PSHL will have the services of two foreign players. The league is likely to be held late next month.
‘The News’ has learnt that PHF secretary Shahbaz Ahmed will also be present during the trials. He will also address a press conference at the same venue on Tuesday.Shahbaz will inform the media about the preparations for the PSHL and also shed light on other issues facing Pakistan hockey.Shahbaz has recently reassumed his charge as secretary PHF after he resigned from the post in the wake of the national team’s poor show in World Cup 2018.
