Transforming culture at police pickets

While passing from police pickets has always been a nuisance for commuters of the twin cities as long queues of vehicles and rude attitude on part of police officials deputed at police pickets were those common complaints that each and every citizen of Rawalpindi and Islamabad usually have to tolerate while moving across these checking points.
After a long time, the people of Islamabad observed pleasant change at police pickets by deployment of smartly turned out cops with soft and friendly behaviours.
To redress all such complaints, a new outlook of Islamabad Police is being transformed as police officials deputed at these pickets are being facilitated with all security-related facilities in face of any untoward incident.
The people of Islamabad observed a pleasant change at police checkpoints with deployment of smartly turned out armed but soft-spoken cops who are being facilitated by new kits that included sophisticated equipment like bulletproof jackets, anklets and knee pads and elbow-covers. The security measures, being observed for officials of Islamabad Police who use to perform duties at police pickets, are part of police plan to ensure security of police force in face of any untoward incident and to create soft image of police force for general public and to create fear of police for criminal elements.
With facilitation of police force with sophisticated kit-equipments, the citizens commuting between twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi welcomed the positive change in appearance and duty style of Islamabad police.
Sarfraz Hussain, an officer of Information Department and routine commuter between Islamabad and Rawalpindi, stated it is good-omen that police officials deputed at checking points on entrance and exit points of the federal capital are being facilitated by equipments of their self-security. Wearing bulletproof jackets, anklets, knee and elbow pads, police officials appeared smart and we feel a sense of security as well. Soft-spoken change in attitude of police officials is also pleasant.
One of the senior police officials stated that police officials deputed at checking points are being facilitated with all facilities and their duty hours are also re-arranged to create a sense of alertness and activeness among police officials. He also informed that on special instructions of Interior Minister Ch. Nisar Ali Khan, operation division branch of Islamabad Police has initiated this arrangement to create a sense of activeness among officials performing responsibilities at police pickets.
Since last couple of months joint patrolling teams of Rangers and Islamabad Police are performing responsibilities amicably and personnel of Rangers and Islamabad Police usually observed jointly by standing alert at pickets.
The ongoing change in appearance as well as in duty style of Islamabad Police is being judged as good-omen and is consider as resultant of joint venture of Pakistan Rangers and Islamabad Police.
While seeking public opinion on this change of Islamabad Police, public welcomed the positive change stating that contrary to past traditions, police is getting professional and upright in performance of their security duties and joint exercise with Rangers is affecting psyche of police towards betterment and all this credit goes to incumbent Interior Minister Ch. Nisar Ali Khan for pursuing proactive strategies and policies to bring improvement in working environment and professional capabilities of police.
