The Orange Line Metro Train Lahore of the Punjab government is an embodiment of the flawed development strategy because the limited resources should be spent on better projects like hydel power generation on the rivers and canals of Punjab than the show piece project, said Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo, President PPP Central Punjab, in a statement issued on Tuesday. He urged the government to restore the hydel power generation comprehensive plan on the rivers and canals prepared during his chief minister’s era in 1995. The execution of the proposed plan will make available affordable electricity to the farmers and consumers because this mode of power generation is the cheapest and climate friendly. He predicted that with the availability of affordable electricity the provincial agriculture would get a desperately needed boost bringing a revolution in the rural life considerably thus reducing the difference of regional economic disparities.
