A picnic turned disastrous for a family as the Suzuki pickup in which they were returning from Hawkesbay collided with a speeding dumper truck near Swat Colony in Baldia Town, resulting in the deaths of nine people, including women and children. Five others were also seriously injured.
As per initial details, five of the victims – Shahjahan, Aslam, Abbas, Saira and Ameer – had been identified. The driver of the truck was also taken into custody.
Two kids die in road mishaps
Two children were killed while another was injured in road accidents on Sunday.
Five-year-old Yousuf was run over on the main road near Do Dariya at Sea View.
Mansoor, 12, was killed and his friend, 10-year-old Sameer, was hurt when a speeding car ran them over in Agra Taj Colony.
