Mismanagement in laptop distribution in Multan
MULTAN: Enraged female students of Secondary School Certificate Wednesday staged a demonstration at Multan Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) for not getting laptops after objections were raised on their form ‘B’ due to clerical mistakes. The Multan BISE administration invited the female students, securing more than 91 percent marks in SSC-2017 exam. A large number of students came from Multan, Vehari, Khanewal and Lodhran districts. The students reached the Multan BISE in the wee hours of Wednesday and lined up to get laptops.
The BISE administration raised objection on form ‘B’ and more than 1,000 students received objections after spending the whole day under the scorching heat. More than 500 students staged demonstration and chanted slogans against the BISE administration. The protesters said applications were submitted under the supervision of the BISE administration after which some of the candidates received their laptops on merit but others were neglected.
The students urged the Punjab government to take notice into the issue and distribute laptops to the deserving students. They demanded the government to remove the form ‘B’ condition and only accept the students’ result cards, which is sufficient to establish highest marks percentage as the result card is the official document.
“I reach there at 7:30am but in the afternoon, laptop counters raised objection on my form ‘B’. I have the genuine result card which shows my 95 percent marks. I appear in the exam under my current form ‘B’ but the BISE did not raised objection on it then,” said Aleha Shah, SSC student.
Nargis Batool came from the remote tehsil of Jalalpur Pirwala but her laptop form was rejected, citing the same reason. Talking to this scribe, BISE secretary Kastoora G Shad said it was a clerical mistake by the respective schools administrations. He said a committee would be formed to send all objection cases to Lahore Higher Education Department (HED) for correction in record. Laptops would be given to the students, securing highest marks after correction and verification from the HED.
