Panama JIT: Who were 40 investigators?

ISLAMABAD: The former prime minister, Nawaz Sharif , questioned the presence of 40 unknown experts in the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) as admitted by Wajid Zia on Wednesday during cross-examination.

Talking to media persons outside the Accountability Court on Thursday, Nawaz Sharif questioned who those experts were and which department they came from. He said it is the right of the people to know that who is determining fate of this country and its people. It is to mention here that Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz and the recently elected PML-N Senator Mushahid Hussain kept discussing this issue while in the court where Nawaz Sharif was of the opinion that this issue should have been highlighted.

Outside the Accountability Court, Nawaz said he is thankful to Almighty Allah that a case was formed against him after which the truth has come to surface. “Nobody could see any corruption in the corruption cases against me. What everybody has clearly seen is the injustice meted out to me,” Nawaz said. “Who were those 40 experts, which department they came from, who entrusted them the specific task and who provided them authentication,” he questioned. Nawaz said when Wajid Zia was asked who these experts were, he said he cannot tell due to secrecy. “The nation needs to know who were these faceless, nameless and unknown persons,” he said, adding many things were concealed in this matter that are coming to surface now. He said the decision of Supreme Court disqualifying him on the basis of an Iqama has already proven wrong. “A wrong case was instituted against me over the wrong decision of the apex court,” he said.

About the PML-N members from the South Punjab who left the party, Nawaz said they never belonged to the party anyway. “People belonging to us will be weighed in gold,” Nawaz said while pointing towards Mushahid Hussain, Berjees Tahir and Daniyal Aziz.

Earlier, while talking to the reporter's inside the accountability court, Nawaz said he is quite hopeful to get justice as there is nothing in this case except fraud. He once again avoided questions regarding Ch Nisar Ali Khan and with a smile said “you ask me these questions again and again”.
